Growing and buying Christmas tree
There are four possibilities when buying Christmas trees, absolutely ruling out going to the field and cut trees or branches.
1. Tree extracted from the soil without any root or with very few
2. Tree drawn with a ball of earth
3. Tree grown in pots
4. Tree artificial
1. Arbol extracted from the roots with little soil
It is most common today. In the nursery you start the copy with very few roots or cut at ground level directly (above), so that after the holidays inevitably dies. The trees are "disposable."
Some councils provide containers for collection and then shred and recycle this material as fertilizer, always will be much better than throwing them in incinerate or landfill.

2. Arbol removed with a ball of earth
If removed with a good "blob" of soil adhering to their roots, there is some chance of survival after being at home. You can try later planting in the garden or put it into a pot, but certainly the very roots difficult talking about survival rates of 1 in 1000, although not think it is so low.
Some municipalities collect the pine trees or have to take them to a local nursery to try their subsequent retrieval replanting in parks and gardens. That dry manure are recycled.
3. Tree grown in pot
It is best to buy a plant cultivated in pots and that after the January 6 it can be maintained as an indoor plant or plant it outside.
Check if you have been recently railed or not. It is easily seen. Throw it or remove the pot and kept the whole ball of earth, without disintegrating. That is a sign that the plant has been around a while and the roots therefore Compact keep the root ball. At times, potting haste and sold as rooted plant, but it is not.
You could also buy a Araucaria excelsa enduring much better indoor conditions the firs and comes in a container. In fact it is often grown as houseplants.
The survival of fir or pine purchased with root ball or pot after their stay at home is difficult because they are subjected to high temperatures of heating (even over 25 degrees) when they should be close to 0 º C, as in nature. This deprives them can not stand needles and subsequent transplantation.
Even so, follow these tips while fir growing in the house:
Watered every 3 days.
Put it in a large pot and drain hole at the bottom.
Away from the heat from radiators or heat stoves and light bulbs.
Moisten the leaves with spray.
The pines and firs have to ventilate with outside air, so if you can, remove the tree outside for a few hours, or leave the windows open as far as possible.
4. Artificial Tree
A good alternative, provided that save for the following year, is the artificial tree. To purchase and pull, it is preferable to a live tree that is at least biodegradable.
